Two skiers from Sacramento, out looking for fresh powder, instead ended up saving another skier's life.

It happened last Wednesday at Palisade's Tahoe.

Carson Schmidt told our Sacramento affiliate KOVR that he doesn't know why he stopped, but is glad he did.

In a video taken by Schmidt, you can hear the buried skier gasping for air. The Sacramento skiers work to dig his head out to clear a path for him to breathe.

At least four feet of snow was weighing him down.

The man, moments from suffocation, was saved by their quick actions.
