Lake Tahoe West Shore

The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will start accepting comments on their latest draft Environmental Assessment.

The draft is available for public consideration, and comments will be accepted from now until 11:59 p.m. on June 30.

The latest assessment focuses on restoration activities for just over 44,000 acres of National Forest System lands on the west shore of Lake Tahoe.

Officials say that past land use practices have resulted in overly dense forests and excess vegetation accumulations, low quality wildlife habitat and degraded watersheds.

You can find the draft assessment at the Lake Tahoe West Pinyon Public project website.

Any comments submitted electronically must be sent via email to comments.ltbmu@usda.gov - alternatively, comments can be sent through the mail.
