The race between incumbent Democrat Senator Jacky Rosen and Republican challenger Sam brown is a toss-up.

Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar told 2 News Nevada that 94% of all votes should be counted in the first 24 hours, but only 86% were reporting as of 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday night at their respective campaign watch parties, both candidates expressed confidence that they will prevail over the other in the final count.

"We are not letting up now. We're going to win this race," said Senator Jacky Rosen.

"Tonight, let's celebrate that we've got a lead! Crowd cheers. And, tomorrow or the next day, an official victory. God bless you all," said Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Sam Brown.

2 News Nevada spoke to Republican National Committee chair Michael Whatley, who says the RNC is confident that President-Elect Donald Trump's success in Nevada will translate to higher votes for Maga-endorsed candidate Sam Brown.

"Donald Trump is a tide that rises all boats, so when he wins this state, we're optimistic that we're going to be able to get Sam across the line," said RNC Chair Michael Whatley.

The Nevada Democrats issued the following statement, in part quote:

"There are still thousands of mail ballots in Clark County and across the state that have yet to be counted or received. "... Senator Catherine Cortez Masto's victory was not called until four days after election day in 2022."

Thousands of the votes are still coming in from the state's urban and rural areas.
