Listen Everywhere

The City of Reno has implemented two new devices that can help people who are deaf or hard of hearing communicate with City officials, as well as listen to meetings and court proceedings.

The UbiDuo 3 allows people to communicate using two-way, simultaneous, real-time keyboards. This eliminates the need for a sign language interpreter.

You can learn more about UbiDuo 3 devices at this link.

UbiDuo 3 devices can be found on the second floor in the Business Licensing/Development Services and City Clerk's offices front counters, and on the first floor at security.

Listen EVERYWHERE is an assistive listening app that users can access through a smartphone.

When a City Council meeting or other public meeting takes place at City Hall, or a court meeting at the Reno Municipal Court, users can connect to the "Assistive Listening" Wi-Fi, connect a Bluetooth listening device, and download the Listen Everywhere app on their smartphone.

There are also receivers in Council Chambers and Municipal Court for people without smartphones.

"These two pieces of technology represent another step in our commitment to enhance local government access," said Cynthia Esparza, Chief Equity and Community Relations Officer.  "We are always exploring avenues to do better, and we proud to remove a couple barriers with UbiDuo 3 devices and Listen EVERYWHERE.”
