A portion of I-580 south near Moana Lane was shut down while authorities investigated a multi-car crash on Tuesday.

Nevada State Police say it happened after 11:15 a.m. and involved three vehicles.

One person needed to be extricated from their vehicle and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 

At one point, traffic was backed up past Mill Street.

Impairment is not suspected.

There's no immediate word on what caused the crash.
