Two teenagers were arrested after officers recovered two guns during a Regional Gang Unit investigation in Reno.

According to the Reno Police Department, in an online post, the arrests occurred during proactive enforcement on July 31 in northwest Reno, as the Regional Gang Unit focused on reducing gang-related crime and improving neighborhood safety.

During one of several traffic stops, officers recovered two guns and arrested the two teenagers. They were taken to the Jan Evans Justice Center, where they will be held accountable for their alleged violations while also being connected with gang diversion resources designed to help break the cycle of gang involvement.

"Every illegal firearm removed from our streets is one less opportunity for violence. Through proactive enforcement and intervention, the Regional Gang Unit remains committed to protecting our community while helping connect youth with resources that can lead to a better path, the Reno Police Department said.
