Authorities have identified the driver who died after a multi-car crash on Highway 395 near Red Rock Road last week.

Nevada State Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse was heading south on Highway 395 when it approached three stopped cars during the morning commute on September 19th.

NSP says the Traverse hit the back of a 2010 Lexus RX350, which then rear-ended a car in front of it - that's when the Traverse overturned and slid into a truck.

NSP says the Lexus driver, 77-year-old Edward Phillips of Reno, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

NSP says the unidentified Chevy driver was flown by Care Flight to the hospital with serious injuries. Three kids inside the Traverse were also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
