UPDATE: JANUARY 24, 2024Â
Two men convicted of several charges, including attempted murder are scheduled to be sentenced in April.Â
The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says Juan Lopez-Leyva and Juan Sanchez-Ramirez were recently found guilty by a jury in connection with a shooting that left a woman paralyzed in January 2021.Â
The DA's office says the men went to the woman's Wedekind Road apartment and demanded that she open her door to let the duo get a wallet and phone an associate left behind during a fight, the night before. Authorities say the men held guns to the 34-year-old victim's head, but when she told them she didn't have the items, that's when Lopez-Leyva shot her.
Prosecutors say the shooting left the victim a quadriplegic and needing medical care 24/7.
Both men were also convicted of Battery with a Deadly Weapon Causing Substantial Bodily Harm, and Mayhem.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 25.
