Fire crews are mopping up after a fire broke out near Gateway Drive in south Reno early Thursday afternoon.

The two-acre fire started around 1:15 p.m. on the hillside of Prototype and Gateway Drives.

Firefighters say the fire may have been sparked by a leftover hot spot from an earlier, morning fire. Downed powerlines were also reported in the same area and that may have contributed to this newer fire. That powerline is now de-energized.

Smoke could be seen across much of the valley.

Fire crews say wind may have contributed to the growth of the fire.

The Nevada Division of Forestry will stay on scene overnight to make sure it doesn't flare up again.
