Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue (TMFR) says that forward progress has been stopped on the Ridge Fire, northeast of Cold Springs.
TMFR, along with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Forest Service have been fighting the fire since it started earlier this afternoon.
The fire reached around 10 acres in size before crews were able to stop progress. According to the Reno Fire Department, the fire currently sits at approximately 4.7 acres.
No evacuations are in place, and no structures have been lost.
According to Adam Mayberry with TMFR, the Reno Fire Department (RFD) will be taking command of the rest of the fire efforts since it started in their jurisdiction.
Crews will remain on scene to mop up and secure the fire line - neighbors in Cold Springs should avoid the area and allow fire personnel to work.
RFD says that the fire after a UTV driving in the area was involved in a rollover crash and caught nearby brush on fire.
The owners of the UTV are cooperating with fire investigators.
