ORIGINAL STORY - December 17:

NV Energy is issuing a Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) watch for multiple communities in northwestern Nevada on Friday amid concerns of elevated fire weather conditions.

The potential planned outage would affect around 715 NV Energy customers in south Carson City, Clear Creek, Jack’s Valley, Genoa, and east Glenbrook, according to a release from the power company.

The outage would take place from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday if it happens.

During a PSOM, NV Energy shuts off power for customers in high-risk zones to help protect the community and environment from wildfires.

The potential proactive outage will be adjusted or cancelled if weather conditions change.

NV Energy crews will be on standby to respond to any additional outages caused by the high winds.
