President Joe Biden announced this past weekend that he is withdrawing his bid for re-election.

President Biden threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris for the democratic presidential nomination.

Vice President Harris says she wants to earn the nomination and has been working the phones to line up delegates and raise money.

For some northern Nevadans, the President's decision to drop out of the race was shocking.

Despite this, some voters feel that this decision is best for the democratic party moving forward.

"It's the best thing that could have happened. Personally, I've been really disengaged in politics and I'm a former mayor of Truckee. So, politics has been a mainstay in my life since I turned 18, and this is the first time I've never voted in a primary," said Beth Ingalls.

Alog with Ingalls, other voters have major concerns for President Biden's age and his ability to think on his feet.

Others are fearful of how the remainder of the election cycle will play out.

"It's frightening, both sides, it's frightening. I don't know what is going to happen," said Louise Zevan.

"I'm not a Trump fan, I voted for Joe Biden, but I feel really let down and I feel like somebody needs to step up and save our country," said Kris Binkley.

After hearing the news that President Biden is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, one voter thinks the Democratic party should steer in another direction for the best chance to win.

"I don't care for her at all, and so I think we need someone else in there, you know somebody, if someone else was to get it, I would like for them to be more moderate, and not so far left," said Ginger King.

Most of the voters we spoke with say President Biden's decision to drop out of the race is giving them more motivation to head to the polls in November.
