JULY 3, 1:15 P.M.:
Reno Fire crews have determined the cause of this week's Barron Fire near Rattlesnake Mountain.
Chief David Cochran says that Tuesday's 290-acre fire was started by people - specifically someone using machinery that sparked and then spread from there.
"We really want to get that message out there that there’s a lot of things that people can do to prevent fires because so many are human caused," Cochran said.
Currently, the fire is now 90% contained and crews are still mopping up.
No injuries were reported and no buildings were damaged.

JULY 2, 2025:
The Barron Fire, burning in southeast Reno, is now 75% contained at 290 acres.
All evacuations have since been lifted after heavy rains fell on the fire, reducing its activity substantially. Nearby road closures have also been lifted.
The fire began shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday near Barron Way in Reno and spread south across Rattlesnake Mountain.
No injuries have been reported, and no buildings have been lost, according to the RFD.
The cause remains under investigation.
Aerial firefighting was suspended on the first the day due to drone activity.
The RFD says it is a reminder to local drone operators not to fly drones over wildfire incidents, as they put aircraft pilots and firefighters on the ground at risk.
Some photos from the #barronfire this evening. Great effort by the crews to put in the hard work and save critical infrastructure, including South Meadows water treatment, plant, water, tanks, and cell phone towers. Thank you @RenoFireDept @RenoFirefighter @TMFPD pic.twitter.com/XFepbB2KNt
