The Lake Tahoe Regional Fire Chiefs Association has declared the official burn ban for the season, bringing new restrictions on outdoor burning around the Lake Tahoe area.
According to South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue in an online post, the burn ban took effect June 15.
Under the restrictions, charcoal use is prohibited within city limits. Wood fires are never allowed within city limits, and no burning of any kind is allowed on Red Flag Days.
Natural gas, propane and pellet barbecues, including pellet grills such as a Traeger, are still permitted.
Fire officials thanked residents and visitors for doing their part to help keep Lake Tahoe safe during fire season.
