Carson City celebrated Cinco de Mayo all weekend long.

The community was invited to check out tons of local food trucks at Fuji Park where most competed in a taco competition.

"We got thirteen trucks this year to start with and then we're going to have a competition and the trophies are best overall, and then there's a most unique taco trophy, and the last one is the people's choice. So, everyone gets to vote," said Billy Lavelle, owner of Bus Boy food truck.

In addition to all the tacos, there was also plenty of other food and drink options, live music, and the beautiful park. The winner of the people's choice for best tacos was King of Kings.

Anna Freeman, Recreation Programs Supervisor for Arts and Culture, said that on Saturday, "...the wine walk will be Cinco de Mayo themed as well, you can get little wine glass charms that are Cinco de Mayo."

There was also a live solo guitarist playing a wide range of acoustic melodies, and the Ballet Folklorico Internacional de Reno wore costumes and performed music and dances from regions throughout Mexico.

"It's a really, not just entertaining, but education performance," Freeman added.

Sunday had tons of kids' activities, live music, vendors and more performances.

Organizers spoke about why celebrating together is important for the community.

"It's a good community thing that brings everybody together," said Lavelle. "We as food trucks in the community work together very well."

"Events like this we got multiple local businesses, arts organizations, the city itself, the Visitors Bureau, the Downtown Business Association, and really coming together and feeling that community pride," said Freeman.
