The Spring 2025 Open Burn has begun, according to the Carson City Fire Department (CCFD).

The open burn period is intended to provide locals a chance to get rid of collected yard debris and weeds. 

Depending on permit status and daily weather, burning can take place from April 1, to May 31, 2025.

In order to ensure everyone's safety, the CCFD will require a burn permit.

Permits are accessible online at the Carson City Fire Department's website and will be available beginning April 1, 2025.

The Carson City Fire Department says when you click on the "Open Burn" notice, a form will appear that you must print off and have with you when burning.

According to CCFD, walk-in permits will no longer be available in their administrative office.
