If you have a child getting ready for school, the Carson City School District says now is the time to act.
The district is asking families to register and update information for all kindergarten, new, and returning students for the 2026 to 2027 school year.
To enroll in kindergarten, children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2026.
Families will complete registration through the district’s Infinite Campus system, which is used to collect and update student information online. Through the system, parents can review and confirm demographic details, emergency contacts, and medical information before the school year begins.
School officials say having current information is necessary for day-to-day communication, as well as for participation in field trips, school activities, and media releases involving photos or video.
Parents can also visit their child’s school in person between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to complete registration and provide required documents. Those include a birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residency in Carson City.

Required immunizations include Hepatitis A and B, DTAP, MMR, IPV, and Varicella. Additional vaccines are required for seventh grade and 12th grade, including Tdap and MCV4 for meningitis.
Families with children who will be 4 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2026, may apply for the district’s pre-kindergarten program if they meet federal income guidelines. In addition to standard documents, those applying for pre-kindergarten must also provide proof of income, such as recent pay stubs or a 2025 tax return.
Applications for pre-kindergarten can be submitted at the Professional Development Office on West Musser Street. Families can contact the pre-kindergarten office directly for more information.
The district encourages parents to reach out to their neighborhood school with any questions and to review school boundary information on its website.
