Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is making the public aware of fraudulent phone calls targeting residents.
They say people are receiving calls from scammers claiming to represent the Health Department.
The callers tell the victim that their medical records have been accessed and then instruct them to visit a CCHHS office.
When residents request specific office details, the callers often disconnect the line.
CCHHS wants to remind the public:
- Official Communication: CCHHS will never contact residents via unsolicited phone calls to demand that they visit our offices due to alleged unauthorized access to medical records.
- Protect Your Information: Never share personal, financial, or private medical information over the phone with unsolicited callers.
- Verify the Source: If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from the Health Department, please hang up and contact CCHHS directly through our official, verified phone numbers listed on our website.
- Report Fraud: If you believe you have been a target of this scam, please report the incident to local law enforcement.
For more information, please contact CCHHS at (775) 887-2190.
