The Carson City Sheriff's Office has found a suspect who pulled a gun on another driver earlier this week and now it is sharing advice for dealing with road rage.

If someone is risking your safety or even threatening your life while driving, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says to separate yourself from the situation as fast as possible.

"Pull off to the side of the road if you can, go to the nearest law enforcement agency, or public safety, go to the fire department if you will," said Furlong. "Get the license plate number, get a description of the car, and if possible, a description of the person who's creating the offense."

As we've reported earlier this week, the Sheriff's Office says a suspect became upset with another driver as he was leaving the Walmart parking lot turning onto Retail Drive.

He then followed the victim to the nearby southbound I-580 on-ramp, speeding around them and forcing the victim off the roadway. The suspect allegedly pulled in front of the victim and slammed on his brakes, pulling out a pistol and pointing it at the victim two separate times.

The suspect has since been identified and interviewed but not arrested. Officers say if you're a victim of road rage, it's important to get as much information as possible to identify the aggressor and report them.

"You want to make sure you are getting a description of the vehicle, maybe a license plate if you can, but not to speed up and try and catch it because that can cause other safety issues on the road and that can cause accidents," said Jessica Dickey, Motor Officer for Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Dash cams are highly recommended so you can capture any safety issues on the road and easily report them.
