Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada (CCNN) has received a grant from the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division to help improve the living conditions of low-income seniors.
The grant will help seniors by providing them with one-time, no-cost home repairs and modifications and will help ensure that seniors' residences meet necessary health and safety standards.
The grant will allow CCNN's St. Marguerite Support Services to assist senior homeowners over 60 and adults with disabilities in all Nevada counties, except for Clark County, which are eligible.
CCNN's will work with homeowners in qualifying and contracting with licensed, insured, and bonded handymen to provide no-cost safety upgrades.
Repairs may include window trim or replacement, door and lock repairs or replacement, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, washer and dryer replacement, toilet modifications, grab bars, wheelchair ramps, fire extinguishers, and new refrigerators and stoves.
The program will continue to support residents with education, outreach, and case management, providing access to CCNN's wraparound homeless prevention services as well as referrals to other agencies and support as needed.
For more information about the program, you can contact Ray van Hest at (775) 322-7073, ext. 341, or email rvanhest@ccsnn.org.
