Brendon Borrego and Chanlee Harvey had plenty to celebrate this year. They bought their dream home in Cold Springs in February and are scheduled to be married in September.

But Sunday brought a devastating turn when the Bug Fire moved down the canyon near their home.

The fire destroyed the couple's home, garage, barn and chicken coop and burned 50 acres in a matter of hours, according to their GoFundMe. They were left with their cars and about a weekend's worth of clothing.

The timing comes as the couple reaches two personal milestones. Brendon's birthday is Monday, Aug. 10, and Chanlee's birthday is Tuesday, Aug. 11. Their wedding is scheduled for Sept. 12.

Their animals, however, were safely evacuated before the fire reached the property. The couple had moved 25 chickens, three goats, two dogs and one cat to safety the day before.

A GoFundMe has been established to help Borrego and Harvey with their immediate needs while they wait for insurance to kick in after losing their home and belongings. As of Monday, the fundraiser had collected $25,150 toward its original $5,000 goal.
