Human trafficking prevention advocates are inviting the public to the Nevada State Capitol today for a community walk intended to raise awareness, encourage action, and show support for children and survivors affected by exploitation.
Step UP 2026: A Community Walk for Justice is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Capitol, located at 101 N. Carson St., in Carson City.
Registration is free and open to community members, families, advocates and organizations interested in helping prevent human trafficking.
Organized by the Human Trafficking Prevention Alliance, the event coincides with the United Nations World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Participants will walk in solidarity with victims and survivors, raise awareness about the realities of human trafficking in Nevada and beyond, and encourage greater community involvement to help prevent exploitation.
The event is designed as a peaceful, family-friendly gathering open to people of all ages. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local advocates, learn about prevention strategies, and publicly stand against the exploitation of children and vulnerable individuals.
"We walk to give a voice to those who cannot speak out for themselves. Every child, every survivor, every person trapped in exploitation deserves to be seen, heard, and protected. Step UP 2026 is more than a demonstration — it’s a call to action. Our community must rise together, stand together, and show that we will not tolerate trafficking in any form. Your presence matters. Your voice matters. Together, we can be the force that brings hope, safety, and justice," Janet, founder of the Human Trafficking Prevention Alliance, said.
Organizers are encouraging Nevadans to bring friends and colleagues and help amplify the message that children are not for sale and that the community refuses to look away.
The Human Trafficking Prevention Alliance is a Nevada-based nonprofit dedicated to preventing exploitation, protecting children and vulnerable individuals, and supporting survivors through prevention education, community engagement, digital safety guidance and trauma-informed support services. The organization works with schools, families, service providers, and system leaders to strengthen community awareness and expand access to resources.
