A crash on State Route 427 near the Lyon/Washoe County line left two people needing emergency care, including one who was ejected and another who had to be freed from a heavily damaged vehicle.
According to the Lyon County Fire Department in an online post, North Lyon Fire was dispatched at approximately 8:46 p.m. on Wednesday to the crash on State Route 427 between Fernley and Wadsworth.
When firefighters arrived, they found two patients. Lyon County Sheriff's Office personnel were tending to the ejected patient, while the second patient remained trapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters began treating both patients and used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the trapped occupant.
Because of the severity of the crash, an air ambulance was requested to the scene. Battle Born Medevac transported one patient to a Reno hospital, while Pyramid Lake Fire Rescue transported the other patient.
The scene was later turned over to law enforcement for investigation. The response included Pyramid Lake Fire Rescue EMS, Battle Born Medevac, Nevada State Police, and the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
Lyon County Fire Department said the incident required coordination among firefighting and EMS personnel, air medical crews, and law enforcement.
