A person lost control of their car and died on I-80 westbound, at mile marker 53, in the Fernley area.
This happened on Monday night, at approximately 9:55 p.m.
After a preliminary investigation by the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP), troopers learned that a car was travelling westbound and ran off the shoulder of the right side.
Troopers say the driver overcorrected by steering back to the left across all the westbound lanes of traffic and hit the median.
According to NHP, the driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was confirmed dead on scene.
