A traffic stop led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man and the recovery of a gun, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested Jesus Ibarra-Mendez on felony charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a controlled substance.

The sheriff's office says a Drone as First Responder pilot provided aerial support during the traffic stop, keeping an eye on the scene while backup deputies were on the way.

The drone provided additional situational awareness for the deputy conducting the stop.

The sheriff's office says the arrest is part of its efforts to keep illegally possessed firearms and narcotics out of the community.
