The ER at North Valleys will resume normal operations at 7 a.m. Friday, nearly a week after it closed because of evacuation orders tied to the Hawk Fire.
The emergency department, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, closed Saturday after authorities placed the surrounding area in the red fire zone. Before reopening, an emergency management team reviewed the facility for safety, cleanliness, product management, equipment testing and air quality. The team determined the building was safe and ready to resume operations.
The 24/7 standalone emergency department is at located at 7515 Sky Vista Parkway, off the Lemmon Drive exit. It provides around-the-clock care for emergency conditions, along with diagnostic imaging and lab services.
“We are grateful to all the first responders in our community who worked tirelessly to manage the Hawk Fire. As we reopen our freestanding ER, we look forward to caring for patients in the North Valleys who have come to trust our team to provide care in their time of need. Thank you to the community for standing together to support one another in this next phase of recovery,” said Erin Swenson, chief executive officer at Northern Nevada Medical Center.
Northern Nevada Health System also said it will begin reopening Northwest Specialty Hospital at 6225 Sharlands Ave. in northwest Reno. The hospital provides acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health services.
