The Nevada State Police reports that one person has died after a rollover crash on December 18 in Lyon County.
According to NSP, at around 6:00 p.m., their Highway Patrol Division responded to a crash on US50 and Apache Drive.
Police say that a preliminary investigation shows that a 2015 Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on US50 in the number one lane. Approaching the intersection at Apache Drive, it slowed down in an attempt to turn around.
A 2000 Honda Accord occupied by two people also traveling westbound on US50 in the number one lane approached the Toyota Tacoma, when for reasons unknown at this time, the Honda hit the back of the Toyota and rolled.
One of the people in the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and the other person was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the driver of the Toyota remained on the scene of the crash and is cooperating with authorities.
The identity of the deceased person will be released by the coroner's office pending a next-of-kin notification.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation. Officials say they will release more information as it becomes available.
