The Future of Film Association has announced a filmmaking competition called Vertical Vision Filmmaking Challenge, open to Nevada residents that are 18 years and older.
The challenge will start November 3 and run through December 1, with the award ceremony on December 18 at the Future of Film Association headquarters in Las Vegas.
Films that are entered have to meet a vertical aspect of 9:16, up to 90 seconds, and tell a story that makes an impact immediately while watching, but it can be any genre.
Winnings will be given in five categories, with a separate grand prize that has a total of $5,000.
The five categories are Best Vertical Micro Drama, Cinematic Look, Performance, Vertical Brand Spot, and an Audience Choice Award.
Each of these categories above has awards of $1,000.
According to the association, this challenge celebrates the revolution happening in the palm of your hand.
The association also says on their website, "Hollywood was built on widescreen, but the future fits in your hand."
