Authorities have released more details about a police shooting in Sparks Tuesday morning.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office, which is leading the investigation, says that Sparks officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on Kleppe Lane on a car being driven by a suspect wanted on a felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon.
Deputies say the unidentified suspect then drove away from the scene, nearly striking a Sparks Police Department officer. That's when deputies say the suspect was shot at, but continued to flee and then hit a Reno Police Department patrol car, injuring a Reno Police Department officer.
The suspect then drove to Victorian Avenue and McCarran Boulevard where that person got out of the car and ran. The unoccupied vehicle continued rolling and subsequently crashed.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Reno Police Department officer is being evaluated at a local hospital for injuries suffered during the incident.
