Former Carson City Sheriff Pete Rasner, who served in that role from January of 1975 to December of 1978, has died.
In a statement on Facebook, the Carson City Sheriff's Office said that Rasner made a lasting impact during his tenure, earning the respect and gratitude of those he served.
"Sheriff Rasner was a dedicated public servant who led with integrity, courage, and a steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of our community," said the statement in part.
The Sheriff's Office offered condolences to Rasner's family and friends.
