Reno Police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting near Montello Street and Oliver Avenue.

Officers responded to the scene around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday where they found a victim with gunshot wounds - but the suspect already left the area.

The unidentified victim, an adult, died on scene.

With the help of traffic cameras, police say the suspect car traveled from Reno to Carson City to Incline Village where Washoe County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop.

Members of the Regional Gang Unit responded to the scene and detained the suspect, who was later identified as 33-year-old Irving Cruz.

They say through a combination of investigative techniques, including witness interviews and evidence collection, Cruz was arrested and charged with open murder with a deadly weapon.
