Northern Nevada pet owners will have another opportunity to get free spay and neuter services this fall, with a three-day clinic offering surgeries, vaccines, and microchips at no cost to qualifying families.
The SPCA of Northern Nevada, Washoe County Regional Animal Services, and Animal Balance will host the clinic Oct. 16-18 at Washoe County Regional Animal Services, located at 2825 Longley Lane, Suite A, in Reno.
The clinic will provide 200 free spay-and-neuter surgeries. Petco Love will also provide essential vaccines at no cost, while Washoe County Regional Animal Services will provide free microchips.
Registration opens Tuesday, September 22, at 8 a.m. Appointments are required, and availability is limited. Community members are encouraged to review all eligibility requirements before registering.
To qualify, pet owners must live in northern Nevada and have a combined household income of $60,000 or less per year. The clinic is open to owned cats and dogs, with dogs limited to 90 pounds or less.
Brachycephalic dogs, dogs weighing more than 90 pounds, and feral or community cats cannot be served through the clinic.
This will be the second collaborative clinic hosted by the three organizations. At last year's event, 203 dogs and cats received spay or neuter surgeries, while 283 vaccines were given and 143 pets were microchipped.
