Update, 4:18 p.m.:
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office has identified the inmate who died at the Washoe County Jail on Sunday.
They say 63-year-old Grant L. Clark who was believed to be homeless was pronounced dead at the jail after being found unresponsive by deputies in his cell.
The cause and manner of his death are still unknown, pending further investigation, laboratory testing and a completed autopsy.
Original Story, 9:38 a.m.:
A Washoe County jail inmate has died after suffering an unknown "medical event" on Sunday afternoon around 12:15 p.m.Â
The Sheriff's office says the unidentified inmate was found unresponsive in their cell.
Upon being discovered deputies and jail medical personnel immediately initiated lifesaving measures to the inmate.
Shortly after 12:45 p.m., medical personnel from Remsa and The Reno Fire Department pronounced the inmate dead on the scene. Â
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detectives and the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an official death investigation.Â
Due to this being an ongoing investigation, the exact cause of the death is unknown at this time.
The inmate's name is currently being withheld, we will update you with information as it becomes available.
