Lane and road closures will take place through fall on sections of Lakeside Drive, Holcomb Ranch Lane and West Huffaker Lane in southern Reno as the Nevada Department of Transportation resurfaces the roadway.
Through late fall, single-lane closures and periodic road closures will take place on Holcomb Ranch Lane, Lakeside Drive between Holcomb Ranch and West Huffaker lanes, and West Huffaker Lane from South Virginia Street to Lakeside Drive.
Known as State Route 671, the approximately 3 ½ miles of road forms a loop on the west side of South Virginia Street in south Reno.
Drivers should anticipate intermittent weekday single-lane closures between 7 a.m.- 4 p.m. for roadside drainage improvements and utility work.
They should also watch for periodic closures of one-mile sections of road for paving, with nearby detours available.
While the majority of delays will be minimal, drivers can anticipate up to 30-minute travel delays as traffic alternates directions through the work zone.
Residential access will remain available, but driveway access may be briefly interrupted as paving is conducted in front of individual driveways.
Drivers are advised to follow all work zone signage and controls, and to travel safely through the work zone. Drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians are also reminded to safely share the road.
The project does not include northern sections of Lakeside Drive, which are maintained by local government partners.
Approximately two inches of the aging roadway surface will be removed, resurfaced, and patched in areas.
Roadside striping will be enhanced and additional signage placed to indicate roadside curves for enhanced visibility and driving safety.
Roadway drainage will also be improved at several locations.
