Another important step in the Tahoe Basin's regional wildfire readiness has been reached with the official signing and validity of the 2025 Lake Tahoe Basin Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).
The Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team says that community-driven plans, or CWPPs, prioritize reducing the danger of wildfires, addressing structural ignitability and wildfire response, and reducing fuels utilizing local data and feedback.
The Tahoe Resource Conservation District (Tahoe RCD), working with the Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team (TFFT), received a California Department of Conservation Regional Forest and Fire Capacity grant from the California Tahoe Conservancy (Conservancy) in 2022 to finish updating the Basin's CWPP.
TFFT says that now that the CWPP is complete, communities, land managers, and agencies have a plan in place to look for funds to carry out vital wildfire mitigation measures throughout the Basin.
