JULY 8 UPDATE:
On July 8th the Lakeridge Golf Course hosted a neighborhood meeting to gather feedback from the community regarding plans for an expansion project.
Neighbors also got a chance to listen to a presentation on how the course would be protected as the project moves forward.
Residents opposing the project were at the meeting. They originally thought the golf course would be torn up.
Others who live around the golf course supported the changes for the well-being of the course's future.
Tim DeVolld, who lives around the golf course, tells us, "I think this is a really good solution to help them be wildly successful and very supportive."
TJ Duncan, the president of Duncan Golf Management, says the support from the meeting tonight was a mixed bag, but they expected that.
"We encouraged it," he said. "We want to hear from the community about our project, and we're going to take everyone's opinions, suggestions, and comments and evaluate moving forward."
There will be another meeting the community can attend on August 19th at Reno City Hall.
As far as the project goes now, Duncan says it's full steam ahead, but they will be taking the time to digest the public comment given to them today.
"We definitely have to have some internal discussions about the comments and suggestions we got tonight, so we will go back and evaluate with the team about what is doable and what is not doable and move forward to our next meeting on the 19th."

ORIGINAL ARTICLE (APRIL 29):
On Monday morning, the Duncan family, owners of the Lakeridge Golf Course, sent a proposal to Reno City Council members including major amenities.
The plans include a 100-room hotel, villas, sports courts, a spa, and much more.
On Monday, we spoke to T.J. Duncan, President of Duncan Golf Management about the motivation behind the proposal, and he feels that this plan will be a great way to stand out.
"We've thrown probably a thousand ideas around and we kind of settled on this idea. As far as things in the community that were needed, you know, more amenities, pools, spas, restaurants, different accommodations that are outside the hotel and casino," said Duncan.
Duncan says they are not only looking to attract more locals to the course, but also more out of town visitors.
Members with the project say these new amenities will not change the current 18-hole golf course and only add to the experience at Lakeridge.
The proposal sent to city council members lays out all of the proposed amenities, and also a request for a zoning change for parts of the property to become a specific plan district.
Nothing is official yet, as these plans must be approved by city council members, but if you would like to learn more about the project proposal, you can visit the Lakeridge Project website for more information.
