Thousands of people are surrounding Lake Tahoe this long weekend, whether they're on the water or on the town.
"It's just so beautiful just being around,” says Finn Machado, a tourist from Napa, California.
You'll usually find Machado on the north side of the lake this time of year, but he says he might as well check out South Lake Tahoe while he’s here.
“Me and my friend, we're actually going to see a Jack Johnson concert,” he says. “So, I think I'll be here the whole weekend and been enjoying it so far."
Machado and his friend stumbled across the Midway Arts & Music Festival at the Heavenly shops. The sights and sounds include art displays, carnival games, and even a car show.
Clark Chandler also passed through Saturday morning.
“By 9:00, it's already 90 degrees in Houston, where we're at right now,” Chandler says. “We're in the 60s this weekend, so we're enjoying it every bit."
A work trip to a convention is what originally brought chandler up to Tahoe for the first time. He says it's a far cry from his normal Labor Day weekend, but a welcome break from the Lone Star State.
“We have a boat and we'll we would have been on our boat this weekend back home, sweating and dying,” he says. “We don't get to have this back home. The green grass, and, you know, the people are so nice and we're just enjoying just the sights and sounds of Lake Tahoe.
Ehether folks have been here one, two, or a hundred times, they say the natural beauty keeps them coming back.
“Tt's just definitely the outdoors. you know, the nature,” says Machado.
“It’s different, but I can see us doing this every year, if we could have that opportunity,” Chandler says.
