A man from Silver Springs was arrested on Tuesday after fleeing from deputies trying to pull him over in Lyon County.

Around 1:45 p.m., deputies with the Lyon County Sheriff's Office tried to stop 40-year-old Troy Nelson for reckless driving in the area of Idaho Street and U.S. Highway 95A in Silver Springs,

Nelson allegedly failed to yield and fled, according to an LCSO release.

A lengthy chase through the Silver Springs area followed, with deputies from the Central, Western, and Northern Command Patrol areas assisting, along with members of the Investigations Division.

During the chase, Nelson allegedly drove in a way that endangered other drivers, forcing vehicles off the road and nearly causing several crashes.

Nelson eventually stopped driving and fled on foot.

Deputies set up a perimeter and found Nelson on Sycamore Street.

After Nelson was arrested, a Sheriff's Office K9 sniffed the car and gave a positive alert for controlled substances.

A search revealed suspected methamphetamine.

Nelson was taken to the Lyon County Jail and charged with reckless driving, felony eluding a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, destruction of evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
