The Lyon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) has released information today regarding an investigation into a possible murder-suicide in Dayton.

According to the LCSO, at around noon on Saturday, June 14, LCSO dispatch received a report from a man on the non-emergency line saying there was a dead woman in a house on Alamosa Street in Dayton.

Deputies headed to the home and conducted a sweep. Inside the house, they found the dead woman, who officials say appeared to be the victim of a homicide.

The LCSO Investigations Division, Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene, along with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Forensic Investigative Section to conduct a thorough investigation.

During the investigation, detectives identified the original male caller as someone who lived in the home with the deceased woman.

Officials used cell phone location data to locate the man in a remote area of Alpine County, California. The Alpine County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) was called in to assist in finding the man.

At around 5:00 p.m., ACSO reported that the man had been located, and had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

LCSO says that the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide, and the identities of those who died are being withheld at this time, pending notification of family members.
