A months-long investigation into allegations involving the sexual exploitation of a minor has led to an arrest in Sparks.

The suspect, 37-year-old Juan Pablo Magana-Macias, was taken into custody at about 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday after Washoe County Sheriff’s Office patrol and K9 deputies, with help from members of the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit, stopped him in Sparks, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in an online post.

Magana-Macias was taken to the Washoe County Detention Facility, where he was booked on multiple felony charges. Those include eight counts of statutory sexual seduction by a person 21 years of age or older and luring or attempting to lure a child using computer technology to engage in sexual conduct.

The arrest followed an investigation by Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children detectives. Patrol and K9 deputies and regional partners assisted with the arrest.

The sheriff’s office said its detectives remained committed to seeing the case through and that the investigation reflects the agency’s continued focus on protecting children and holding those who victimize them accountable.
