Sparks Police are looking for witnesses after a man allegedly hit a one-year-old child with a rock.

Officers were called to a home on 5th street just after 1:30 p.m. Sunday.  There they met with the parents of the child who say the suspect, later identified as Jorge Gonzales, was talking to himself before he threw the rock. 

Sparks Police say the attack left a cut on the back of the child's head.

Gonzales was found a few blocks away and was taken into custody. He was booked on the following charges: 

• Felony child abuse

• Battery with a deadly weapon

• Disregard for safety of a person
