A man faces a first-degree arson charge after deputies say he intentionally set a Sun Valley home on fire with a child inside, last year.
Deputies arrested Phillip Headley on June 6th following an investigation that started on November 21st when Washoe County Sheriff's Office detectives responded to a report of suspicious circumstances at the West 2nd Street home.Â
Deputies say the homeowner told officers that someone tried to set the home on fire and that a child was inside when the fire started. Fortunately, the child wasn't hurt and the house sustained some damage.Â
Deputies say evidence collected on scene show that the fire was intentionally started with suspected flammable liquids.
The Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested and responded to conduct a specialized fire investigation.Â
Headley was already in custody at the Washoe County Detention Facility on unrelated charges - and has since been charged with first-degree arson.
This investigation remains ongoing.
