Lemmon Valley Elementary School returned to normal operations Friday after a fire alarm prompted an evacuation that morning, according to the Washoe County School District.

The alarm was activated around 10:08 a.m. after a problem with HVAC equipment in one of the classrooms. The school evacuated students and staff as a safety precaution.

The Fire Department and School Police arrived to investigate while district staff worked to fix the problem. The district said students and staff followed the school’s emergency plans, leaving the buildings quickly and calmly.

School police gave the all clear around 10:38 a.m., allowing students and staff to return to class. One room remained closed.

The district said everyone was safe and teaching and learning resumed after a brief time. The school then returned to normal operations.
