NDOT's to-do list keeps growing as they make progress on some of their current projects and soon plan to start some new ones.
Their completion date for their North Valleys project has been extended to spring of next year as crews continue to work on US 395 between Golden Valley Road and McCarran Boulevard.
Meg Ragonese, NDOT's Public Information Officer, says southbound lanes will see a shift at the end of April.
"Drivers will see a slightly different alignment of southbound lanes primarily between Clear Acre and McCarran as crews pave and place concrete in some of the existing lanes," she said.
Ragonese says construction will soon begin on their final phase on the Pyramid Highway widening project after taking a brief winter hiatus. Drivers will see overnight lane reductions north of Los Altos Parkway.
"In the next few weeks crews will return and be repaving Pyramid Highway north of Los Altos Parkway. We will continue that work through the summer and that project will be completed at that point."
NDOT has some new projects they plan to start soon. Next winter crews will begin to reconstruct lanes and sidewalks along Pyramid Way between York Way and Nugget Avenue.
"Pyramid Way in that section of Sparks is a very important and busy commuter and residential corridor, so a lot of that future work will take place with overnight lane closures," says Ragonese.
They also plan to replace seven bridges along I-80 west of Reno including the bridge that passes over Mogul Road and the Garson Road Bridge over I-80.
Visitors and neighbors in Lake Tahoe might want to prepare themselves. Crews will start resurfacing US 50 along Tahoe East Shore from Spooner Summit to Stateline at the beginning of May.
Ragonese says, "We will not be reducing lanes. We will keep the number of current lanes on US 50, but we will be resurfacing for a new pavement surface as well as a smoother ride for drivers."
And as for construction along I-80 between McCarran and Keystone, Ragonese says drivers will not need to worry about any traffic changes as crews continue to widen, repave, and add an extended merge lane.
