The Nevada Legislature is set to hear an emergency bill on Thursday that will let nonpartisan voters participate in Nevada primaries.

Nevada Assembly Speaker Steve Yeager submitted the emergency request bill earlier this week.

Assembly Bill 597 allows non-partisan voters to participate in either the Democratic or Republican primaries or to continue only voting in non-partisan races.

The Nevada Assembly Democratic Caucus said it lets people participate in primaries without having to change their registration.

There are currently about 127,000 more registered nonpartisan voters in Nevada than Democrats or Republicans.
