The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents has given final approval for new construction on the grounds of the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR).
On Friday, June 13, the board gave approval for a new indoor fieldhouse and resurfacing of two turf fields on campus.
The groundbreaking for the new fieldhouse, which will be located next to Mackay Stadium, will happen later this summer. Officials say completion of the building is targeted for summer 2026.
The new fieldhouse will be a 72,000 square-foot facility that serves as a multi-purpose building. It will include 110 yards of indoor turf and recreation space, perfect for Nevada club and intramural sports.
The facility will also serve as a practice area for the Wolf Pack Marching Band and Nevada spirit teams, as well as training space for football and women's soccer, batting cages and conditioning space.
Nevada Athletics is currently looking for between $5-7 million in monetary support for the project. If you are interested in providing support, contact wolfpack@unr.edu.
