The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) has determined that Churchill County High School’s softball team played with players who were later deemed ineligible.
Churchill County High School's softball team will have to forfeit some previously played games and is being removed the tournament bracket.
The Churchill County School district says they are in communication with the NIAA in hopes they will reconsider the ruling. The NIAA informed the school that there is no appeal process regarding decisions of eligibility.
The NIAA says the players were ineligible based on falsified records provided by family.Â
In a statement released on Facebook, the school district wrote, "We are committed to following NIAA rules, and in this case, the eligibility determination was unrelated to any actions by the school or staff. They acted in accordance with the information they were provided, which indicated the players were eligible, and there was no reason to believe otherwise."
