Sierra Front Wildfire Cooperators with helicopter

The Sierra Front Wildlife Cooperators will be conducting a live full-scale wildfire response scenario Thursday, May 29.

According to a Facebook post from the Nevada Division of Forestry, the training drill will take place in the south Washoe Valley/north Carson City area, specifically near Lakeview, Combs Canyon and southern Franktown Road.

Neighbors and drivers in the area can expect to see heavy first responder activity in the area, as well as low-flying aircraft while the scenario is being enacted, starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending around 4:00 p.m.

Organizers want to remind the public that this is a training exercise for fire personnel and first responders, and is not associated with Wednesday's evacuation drill planned in Carson City.

The Sierra Front Cooperators are made up of fire agencies in northwestern Nevada, including nearby agencies from California and the Tahoe Basin.
