It's spring break for many kids in the Reno-Sparks area, and while that often means fun-filled days off, some worry about where they'll get their next meal while classes aren't in session.
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada hopes to fill some of those gaps with its Kids Cafe program.
"One in five kids in our state are not getting the food they need, so we don't want them missing meals for five full days if they're counting on that school lunch," said Jacelyn Lantrip, the Director of Marketing and Communications for FBNN. "And this way they can come and eat a free lunch."
Kids Cafe operates primarily out of Washoe County libraries, serving lunch for half an hour to any kids between the ages of 2 and 18 years old. The meals must be eaten on site.Â
