The Reno Police Department Traffic Division has wrapped up Pedestrian and School Zone Safety Operations from earlier in the month.
The operations were made possible in part by a grant provided by the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.
From December 2 through December 19, seven RPD officers conducted the operations at designated Pedestrian Safety Zones in the downtown area or at active school zones.
The school zones patrolled were chosen based on input from the public, related to unsafe driving in the chosen areas.
The focus of the operations were on drivers and pedestrians who were violating pedestrian safety laws.
During the operation, officers issued 77 citations, gave 39 warnings, and were part of one DUI arrest.
Officials would like to remind drivers and pedestrians to share the road, stay alert and aware of your surroundings, and abide by laws designed to protect all road users.
